What would cause my internet security to switch itself off?
Q. Tonight, when I switched on my older computer, I noticed that my internet security software did not show up on the task bar so I opened it up elsewhere and discovered that it had been switched off. Nobody else uses this machine. I enabled it to come on but now it will not display any pages that are secured. What could be wrong. I suspect some virus but nothing is showing up in scans. Recently I installed Spybot and strange things have been happening since then. My internet security is Norton Internet Security and I understood that it is ok to use it along side sypware protection like spybot but maybe I am wrong.

It's possible that if you installed Spybot it took some of your normal AV software behaviour to be suspicious and then neutralised it. As I said, it's usually only recommend to have one AV product installed because of conflict problems. The worst conflict problems I've seen are the two AV programs battling with each other and using all of the memory and resources. Those were Symantec Antivirus and CA Antivirus installed on the same… [cont.]
